Anybody ever taken washed up logs or branches from local streams and creeks and used them in the aquarium?

I see a lot of this stuff around my area and wondered how my fish would fare with it. It would also be extremely cost effective. And if you did use it, did you treat it?

I haven't, but I know some people on here that have. Certain kinds rot under water, I'm not sure which kinds. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I boil my storebought driftwood.

My piece of wood came from the Great Lakes... I had to put it in a bucket with a powerhead going and changing the water every 3-4 days for weeks on end to get all the tannins out, mounted it on a piece of acrylic, and it has been fine in my tank ever since....
