i packed my set up in a year a go then desided to do it all again.

i struck a deal with a guy local to me, as he was selling up i got loads of fish and in the deal there was a lobster!!!!!!!!

i have got a clue abput lobster in fact i want rid of it,

its all blue with bits of red on it and its about 8 inches in lenth,

my problem is because i have not had them before i have no clue as in to what to feed it and genral care for it.......!!!!!!!!!!!!

can any one help me............

Lobsters are wonderful animals. I would love to have one, just that they are so expensive. Very easy to care for, too, it will generally eat the same food that the fish are eating.

The Cobalt Blue Lobsters are supposedly too slow to catch fast moving fish. I have seen small Mbuna buzz around a 11'' Cobalt Blue's claws and not be eaten, or even attacked.

P.S. if yours is really 8'', you can expect to get at lest $120 for it

It's important to apply locality to this question Lynden ;)

Sunderland being in the UK I would have presumed :)
"Blue lobsters" sold and kept in the UK should only be the red claw crayfish, Cherax quadricarinatus

He is fully grown and you could probably get about £20 for him, £30 if you were extremely lucky.

Hope this helps :good:

Oh, weird. I should probably let those guys know that they are overpricing the animal -_- The pictures of Cherax quadricarinatus do kind of look like the "Cobalt Blue Lobster" at a pet store I went to. Although I was pretty sure that it was a Cobalt Blue.... :( arrghh...

i would tend to agree here. i bought mine for £5.95, i think you will find even rehomeing one a bit of a problem, never mind selling one. lol even Blue ones are quite capable of catching fish. though i have one in a community tank, and have had, to date, no problems. they are the most delightful creatures, and are really fun to keep. I feed groung food, like for plecs, flake, fresh chicken and fresh peas. they will, usually, burrow and dig, which in itself is mesmarising. as for care just make sure that there are plenty of nooks and crannys for it to hide in. if it has been kept with fish you should have no worries there. i feed twice a day,

plecs
silver dollars
gurami

bolivian ram
glasscatfish
tiger barbs
corys
CAE
rummy nose tetras
upsidedown catfish
silver shark
Rainbow fish

red crab
bamboo shrimp

4' 50ukg clearseal tank. lots and lots of air features. Cray and shrimp love them.

YOU MUST TAKE GREAT CARE WHEN MEDICATING THE TANK> CRUSTATIA DO NOT TOLERATE COPPER WELL
