With a fish that will eat anything under 4 inches. Which loaches get about 4-6 inches and are very commonly seen? I want to get a trio of loaches for my new 55 gallon oddball/NW cichlid tank mix, and I don't want a loach that gets big (clown) or one that will get eaten, (any one 3 inches and down) I like those polka-dot loaches, and I saw a horseface at an LFS a little while back, they where pretty good sizes, not to big, not too small. Don't suggest any extremely rare ones though, I want but can't have :p

Botia berdmorie, Botia kubotai, Acantopis dialuzona, Pangio khulii or Neomacheilus triangularis would fit in. However, Neomacheilus triangularis and Botia berdmorie do best when kept alone and the later fish may cause problems with other residents.

Looks here for more information on the species listed;

I'm liking the polka-dots :thumbs: Also, I'd like to clear up how big an orange-finned loach gets, one site says a foot, another says 4 inches, and another says 6-7! Im confused

The ciown loach will get to 12" in length( i've seen them that long) 8)

He wasn't talking about Clown Loaches, if I am right you are talking about Botia modesta, I have also seen sites saying they will get to 12", personally I don't believe this and I have never seen a fish in captivity anywhere near that big, 4-6" is far more likely. :)

Go for the Polka dots... I've got 9 in my tank and it is awesome to watch them play. Look around and see if you can find ones with pattern variations, as almost all of mine have vastly different patterns. :alien:

Actually I have seen the CLOWN LOACH(aka:Botia macracanthus). and I did see it at 12"( It was really about 9 1/2"-10 1/2")so believe It 8)

I wasn't questioning if you had seen that or not, I was just saying that dwarfs was talking about another species. :)
