Loaches With Cichlids?

I am soon to be acquiring a new 30 gallon tank, and was planning to put a few apistrogramma in it, along with some angelfish. Currently I have a smaller tank running and was wondering if it would be safe to move my Kuhli Loach into the tank, which would have sand rather then gravel which I believe he would prefer. Is it safe to mix loaches with Apistogrammas or Cichlids in general? Or is that an accident waiting to happen?

All the cichlids that could fit in a 30 gallon ( except maybe convicts) would be fine with a kuhli loach. I would up the kuhli loaches numbers to at least 5 as they do about 1000000x better in a school.

Oh really!? I had no idea they were schooling fish... Hmm maybe I'll get a couple more then
