*post changed so make sure to read bottom!*

I am going to be getting kuhli loaches for my 60 gallon tank, i want somethignt o stir up the sand/gravel in it. I knwo they love sand, which i have now, but i am switching it over to glourite for my plants, but i am wondering if it will still be ok for them to dig and burrow?

i mainly wanted the kuhlis so i can have something to stir up the substarte of pockets, will they do that, or is there a beter catfish/loach i shoudl get? any suggestions?

I don't think I've ever seen mine dig or burrow into the sand further than their heads but I doubt that flourite would harm them if they did.

I have Kuhli's in my one sand tank and they never ever burrow.
Malaysian trumpet snails would be your best bet if you wanted the sand churned over.

well i need a fish to be on the bottom, i have no catfish, no loaches, no nothing, and i need something, so if someone can suggest something kool, that stays small :) I guess with flourite i wont need to churn the substrate would i?

Kuhli's will be fine
and no, with flourite (and a planted tank) you really wont' be doing any churning of the substrate at all :)

ok ill get the kuhlis then :) i am adding pool filter sand on top of the flourite so that should make everything ok :)

What type of barrier are you making for the sand/flourite? Im considering putting some sand on my flourite also.

no barrier

i am still debating, i may try to get my hands on enough lfourite to have 100%, but if i cant, i will just add an inch of sand above, may be 1.5 inches, no barrier tho

Hmm yeah that sounds good, my problem is that i have 2.5-3 inches of flourite and adding an inch of sand wouldnt look and be the best for my aquarium.

However if you do get flourite, i strongly recommend you wash it VERY well before you put it in your tank. You wouldnt want to go through the painful process i had to.

i have set up my flourite in the tank, and i am still thinking about what catfish/ loach to get, any suggestions?

My dream set up would be a pure zebra pleco tank. Man these catfish r amount my fravoitest of them all. But damn they r so expansive :(. Maybe u can get 1 or two alone with some zebra :).

I have four bronze cories in my 100% flourite tank, theyre always fun to watch.

im getting the kuhlis, because they are small, and great to watch, and i am gretting them cheap (1 dozen for 40 bucks, thats like 3.25 a peice!)
