I was hoping to get some loaches (was hoping for Zebras or Yoyos) for my tank, but I've been advised against it because they eat snails and I have Malaysian Trumpet Snails (which I don't want rid of).

Does anyone know if there are any MTS safe loaches? I always thought that loaches (other than large clowns) couldn't eat MTS, but others have told me of Yoyos "ganging up" on them.

Thanks

Kathy

My two Zebra Loaches have never bothered my Ramshorn, giant apple or MTS's.. Not sure whether that's just because they're fussy eaters..

I think the shells of the MTS are too hard for zebra's - even puffers won't have these I hear.

When I got my zebra's, I had MTS, ramshorn and pest snails in my tank. I still have the MTS and some ramshorns, but no sign of the pests.

I think you'll be fine! :good:

hi
we have HEAPS of MTS in our tank with 2 yoyos & im sure they never touch them.but maybe thats cos theres always too much other good food on the menu for ours :D

If you aren't looking to buy the loaches to get rid of pest snails, you could always try one of the smaller loach species instead (those that usualy don't even eat the pest species). Things like kuhlie loaches and dwarf chained loaches fit into this category.
