Hi,

how much liverock do i need for a 54L tank,
and where is the cheepest place to get it,
how much should I expect to pay?

5 kg
local reefers who break their tank should sell for £5-6 per kg
LFS sell for £10-£13

Check out AC. there is always someone selling mature LR. Just make sure you have a good look at it first before you buy. The rock should be very porous and have plenty of green/purple algae patches on it.
If you buy some try and keep it in salt water or at least moist as to reduce die off!

be aware:

• Pay cash on collection
• Take the rock out of the water and check for lead weights
• Smell the rock, should smell like the seaside
• Dont buy rock with loads of aips/mojanos on, even if the seller says they are easy to get rid of
• as you are only buying a small quantity keep the rock submerged in water on journey home
• If you buy off ebay or a forum and use paypal - dont use 'gift'
