hi how long will live rock last out of the water before it becomes uncured? thanks

Not long at all, some things will begin to die off immediately.

For instance, a lot of Pacific Live Rock sits out of water for about a week, by the time you get it shipped to you, coralline algae is pretty much the only survivor. What is the reason you are asking? Is the rock already out of the water?

no i have bought 60 kil secondhand of ebay and i am picking it up tonight and asked him if he had any bags and he said that he has got some insulated boxes and im not sure if he ment he was just going to put it in that. i will take a new dustbin with me and hopefully i can use his water out of his tank

The rock will be fine out of water for a good few hours, no need to transport with buckets of water

Wrap the LR in wet (Tank water) newspapers, it will be fine for the drive home :good: :good:

Have you any stock in your tank at the moment

I'd be very careful adding the LR to the tank if you have livestock in there alreay. There will undoubtably be some die off and could cause an ammonia spike, which could kill the livestock.

Best to put in a separate bucket of heated saltwater and monitor the levels before adding.

This is an interesting read read about adding LR.
