Live Rock

Iv got a question about live rock thats always bothered me, where does it come from? I know its acient dead corals that have built up over time, but is it userally processed some how, or is it harvested directly from the ocean?

live rock is just that... rock... there are farms for it all over the tropics.

I believe there are also places in florida that produce it too.

Live rock is (or should I say should be) pieces of broken off coral in the rubble zone around live reefs. Various parts of the coral reef can die or be broken off by waves and turbulence. These pieces are collected for sale. SH
