hi, I may buy some live rock off www.liveaquaria.com and am just wondering it says that the rock must be cured again upon recieval. I am just wondering how long does this process take and how do I cure it again? Dio I just put it in a spare tank with the correct salinity? Or do I need to do anything else? Thanks
:)

first of all, while liveaquaria rules - you're going to be taking it up the rear pretty hard on the price for live rock. It's far cheaper to drive 200+ miles to buy rock from an LFS.... if you don't have an LFS within 200 miles of you, than yeah, buy online... but $30 in gas and a $80 rock from your LFS - or $120 in shipping and a $80 dollar rock.... you do the maths.

secondly, curing takes a long time if I remember right... soemthing like 2 weeks. And the water needs to be heated, filtered, etc - exactly as if it were in the final tank.

Hi..I bought mine from premiumaquatics.com. They get rave reviews. My LR cycled in 4 days and it was reportedly uncured. Call them on the phone. Their service was really great. SH

I don't know where you got that idea? I spent just over $500 buying 120lbs of LR from liveaquaria, and that was with shipping. Granted, they were having a sale at the time, but any LFS around here (stupid land locked az lol) won't sell LR for under $8/LB.

Id go for online stuff. Like J-Money has said.
Online i can get a 20Kilo box for $180
My LFS its $17.00 a Kilo! Therefore a box of 20 kilo's would cost around $340 here in Aus.

Dependent on where you are, Id sus out all your options.

Curing, you can place it in a different aquaria if you dont want your display to go through another cycle. If you do placed your uncured LR in your display, your likely to go through another cycle as the biologiclas on the LR die off from transport. Curing time depends on the level of die off that occurs on your rock. Just monitor water params daily.

Provide adequate water movement, and heating in the alternative tub, and you shouldnt go wrong! :D

how much live rock would I need for a 25 gallon? this would help me sort it out.

I live in Sheffield (England) and the LFS sells for £14 per kilo! arrrghhhhh but online, with shipping costs around £140 for 30lbs but the LFS says I need 12 kilos and this adds up to 168.

I think I may have to go hunting around. :D

you would need approx. 26lbs/11kgs minimum for a 25 gal tank :)
