I have some Live rock in another tank that I am slowly braking down. Now I have some puffers that are currently in 1010sg, as they will be gradually going full marine over the coming 12 months I was thinking of keeping this extra live rock rather than selling it on and then having to buy some more later on. My question is how low Sg can live rock go before it starts to die off, I ideally want to put it in brackish tank to use it as filtration but what sg does it NEED to be at to still be effective?

Hope that makes sense!

Ok I've done a little research into this and from what I can tell, your LR will need to be at least 1.020 to survive, critters in LR will start to suffer at around 1.017 and at 1.015 will start to die off. Interesting question :good:

I don't know much about Puffers, but I'm just curious why you're taking that long to raise the sg? Don't think it should take 12 months to acclimate them...?

they go gradually marine in the wild, they are only 6 months old now so need to go slow. Im just tryingto replicate their natural environment thats all.
