Im going to be adding live rock rubble to my Fluval 205 canister filter. I've been told it does not need any lighting to thrive. I was wondering, though, if I could break up some existing rock from my tank and put it in the canister. I didnt know if anything on it that requires photosynthesis (algaes or whatever) would die off in an amount to cause a problem.

I want to use the stuff from my tank because 1) it is already matured and 2) I want to free up some room in my tank because I feel it is overcrowded with rock already.

That would work just fine. Just take it out, place it on a firm surface, wrap it a couple of times in paper towels, smash away. Tada, LR rubble. :)

Thanks chris, I have a fair amount of green algae Im trying to fight but should be fine...one its deprived on light on those pieces at least
