I don't want to high jack Rayne457's Journal so I began a new thread. With new LR comes new creatures, mostly unknown as I am new to the salty side. I believe I discovered a purple/blue and pink bristle worm. It comes in and out of the LR, it cleans off some brown algae and goes back in the LR. It is really small still and I am wondering if this species is dangerous to clowns and snails?

As Nemo pointed out in Ray's Journal the other creature could be a peanut worm. I looked at some pictures online and it looks similar. It first appeared as it was boring out of some LR which I assume has plenty of Limestone in it to make it soft, the body of the creature slowly emerged, very long and slender, we saw it begin to bore out a new hole and disappeared back into the LR. I know it was boring out the LR because I could see the rock material pile around each hole. It has a grey body almost looks like a feather duster body but obviously a feather duster worm isn't going to burrow into LR. I think it is too small to say it is a peanut worm yet but wondered if anyone had any other ideas?

Can't help you with the id's but live rock watching is great
8 months on from getting mine I spotted a massive bristleworm last night about 6 inches long andfatand juicy!!! very attractove looking animal though and good CUC I believe

My half purple/ half pink bristle I discovered a few days ago really works at the brown algae since my tank is still cycling. The bumblebee snails are getting up haha. I recently found two white brittle star fish as well. I just wish I knew what that grey worm-like creature was but it has yet to return when I am watching it.

Any chance you can get a photo of it?

Liverock is great :). I have had my current tank set up for over a year and some of the LR in it I have had for 3 or 4 years and I still see new stuff every so often.

Barney -

Picture of what? haha and sorry for the typo I meant that the bumblebee snails are not keeping up with the brown algae.

I would agree with Nemo, most likely a peanut worm, fasinating creatures if you can see them close-up

The infamous pink/purple bristle worm made a 5 second appearance tonight but I have yet to spot and photograph the "peanut worm", but I will keep hunting!

P.S. - bought a new percula clown today!
