Having no digital picture, I’ll be describing what I see. A small hole, maybe 1 millimeter wide every few seconds what seems to be hairs coming in and out maybe 8 hairs in all (A guess). Having not noticed this before I assume the hitchhikers where hidden and are just now coming out. I have about 4 such holes each with its own hitchhiker it seems to try and catch partials of maybe waste or algae. Like a webbed claw coming out of a small hole. Any ideas? What it might be? Safe? Sorry no picture.

Sounds like a featherduster to me. Does it look like this? - Featherduster

If so, then totally safe. :)

As far as I know featherdusters don't really do much for the tank. They are just lil' critters that filter feed on the LR, no need to feed them. :D

most featherdusters dont need direct feeding, only a few types do.
