Live plants for african cichlids tank

There's no such type of cichlid as "African cichlids". You need to be more specific. Cichlids from one of the Rift Lakes, and if so which lake, or cichlids from rivers in Africa?

Well that I don't know. I bought some of them from petsmart n others from petco. And they don't specify from where they're from or if they are from a home breeder so I don't know anything . I'm trying to make my cichlids tank looking more like they're normal habitat so that's why I'm asking bout what plants you find in theire original surroundings

Unless we know where the fish originated we can't say what plants grow naturally in the same place. Rift Lakes have very different water chemistry from rivers so will not only have different fish, different plants will also grow.

I agree with connorlineman, photos of the fish will tell us what type of cichlids they are.

Mbuna types - various species of... plant eaters. In nature they feed on thick algae mats, called aufwuchs. No complex plants exist in their habitat.

If you can find very tough leafed Anubias plants (not always easy to find), they can usually survive these fish.
