I am thinking of getting some live food for my firemouth. he is around 3" long, maybe a little bit smaller. would he eat feeder guppies or anything? if so, how often should i give him them, and how often?

Sure if you get small enough ones for him to eat. I would try maybe once a week. Skip the goldfish and stick to the guppies/danios/rosies. Can also try ghost shrimp, earthworms, mealworms, bloodworms, brine shrimp.

my girlfriend has danios in her tank, i dunno if that would fly!
feeder guppies i suppose i could do. when doing this, how many should i put in the tank at a time, just one?

and what do you mean by rosies? surely not rosy barbs, cause they're big fish.

At my lfs they have feeders they call rosies. I think they are just a different type of danio, cuz they have the same body. Never really tried to id em. I would put maybe 3-4 in. You could buy say 5 and put em all in. He'll eat em when hes hungry.

They call them Rosy Reds here. They are kind of a salmon color and shaped similarly to the danio. At my LFS they cost about .12 each so they are very cheap. :D Hope this helps.
