So every time I clean my hang on tank filters on my Hillstream tank, there are small to medium sized Hillstream’s in the filter… these guys can climb, and since they aren’t getting ground up in the pump, ( inlet is screened of course ) I assume they are going up the outlet of the filters… so they aren’t trapped in there, I’m assuming they find the conditions favorable… I was reading a post a couple days ago, and the OP was talking about seed shrimp, or other small critters living in their filters… I think this is actually a good thing… part of a good filter??? I find pest snails in there all the time, on tanks that have them, that I toss out, but new ones come back before the next cleaning…
What’s in your filter, besides beneficial bacteria???
