when my fish were ill i removed my assasin snails because the treatment for the fish could have killed them .

left it a few weeks with the snails in a fish bowl with air pump and small heater, only fed them flake food that i made sink to the bottom. they loved it. daily water changes etc.

rite now fish are all better i went to remove snails from fish bowl to put back into my main tank.

but found lots of little thin red worm things that move in a thrashing motion,

what are they? as i dont want to introduce somthing bad back into my tank.

at a guess google camallanus worms

Feed any live bloodworms.

Camallanous worms I think are only red when there been feeding on the host.

Anchor worm can also be red.
A pic might help.

not the best, but all i can do rite now.

is it possible these are being carried by the snails ? only thing i can think of, everything was fine untill i got the betta simplex, removed the snails to treat them as they were obviously ill, flicking onto things, and being very misrable, one was and still is rather thin although they all seam ok now,

so went to check snails, and they had all these dam things in with them.

also, i put snails on a new bowl, so not to transport those worms with them, yet as you can see i have found more in the new bowl, so must be getting a lift with the snails?

they look alot like these.. which are apparently tubiflex is it?

Don't know anything about smails but can snails get internal parasites.
If the smails were flicking was it because the worms were trying to feed on them.

Check your fish for these signs.
Flicking and rubbidng.
Red sores or red pin prick marks on the fish.
Looking skinny or bloated.
Inflamed red anus or enlarged anus.
What does it look like when your fish go to the toilet.

the fish were ill before but you helped me, i medicated them and removed the snails , the snails seam in good health almost looks asif the snails have had eggs layed onto there shells. as they keep having this fluff stuff on them.

i cant treat the snails with the meds i have becauase the meds i have you cant use with them.

not sure what to do, obviously now my fish are ok, i dont want to reintroduce anything back into the tank that may make the fish ill again.

i had a problem with whitespot with the fish, dont think i had internal parasites with them. so very unsure what these worms are.

are there any worms that can just appear from uneaten flake food ? the snails are messy and that seams to be were they have originated from

to be honest i really am getting Very fustrated with this....

its one thing after anouther, these may be harmless worms, however i doubt it would be just my luck that they are a parasitic type.

feel like giving up with everything.

Not sure what type of worm they are. I wish I could help more.
Take one of them in a bag to the lfs to see if they know which worm it is.

Also do another thread asking if anyone can identify this worm. Add pics.
