Please recognize that the sparkling gourami is NOT the same as the croaking gourami, though they are very similiar. A lot of people get them confused. The photo you have shown is a croaking gourami.

Well, After reading this post I found out I was GYPED by Wal-Mart (surprise). I was sold 4 Gouramis under the name "Neon Gourami, Fancy." Well, 2 were supposed to be male and 2 were supposed to be female. 2 appear to be the female Neon Blue Gourami and 2 appear to be Flame Gouramis. Oh well, maybe the 2 Flames will turn out to be dif sexes. I wondered why they seemed to stay away from each other. Oh well, what do you expect when Wal-Mart is the only LFS?

Yes, Sparkling Gouramis are sometimes called Pygmy/Dwarf Croaking Gouramis. They do make a noise, though it is not the same as the croakers, nor as loud. I just wanted to point out that they are different species, though very similiar.
