Just wondering what other liquid ferts people are using other than Seachem flourish.
Or if you have experience with other brands, if it's not too much trouble, please share how well they worked?

I'd just like other options than the Seachem products since I can't always get a bottle of it.

Right now I'm using API Leaf Zone. Anyone know if this is a good liquid fert? It seems to be doing it's job as far as I can tell. I've been using it in my 3 gallon and 10gallon and all plants look fairly healthy.

I only use Sera Florena or Florenette A. Sera Florena is a liquid, Florenette A is a tablet. The tablets make the surface of the water go all foamy but the liquid is fine.

I have tried a number of other brands and most of them encourage algae and don't do as good a job as the Sera.

Tropica plant nutrition is probably the best liquid fert. It's by a company (Tropica) who actually grow plants so they ought to know a thing or two about ferts!! You can get it from aquaessentials.co.uk.

I will add that the AE dry power trace mix is good, its not a 100% complete trace mix but I've used it in EI, high light tanks and it works well. Far cheaper too, especially for larger tanks.

Leaf zones is ok, but it only really contains iron, which is an important nutrient but plants need a range of nutrients.

I agree with Sam, i use the AE dry powder trace mix to my tank, its the only fert i use and have good results with it.

Cheers Gordon

I have used Tropica ferts for the last 2 years or so, almost exclusively. I've tried other ferts but this is the best IME.

It contains potassium also.

Yes they do ship overseas. I have just started using tropica plant nutrition + on my tanks so can't really comment on that. In the past I've used JBL ferropol which barely kept the plants alive, interpet flora boost which did nothing, api root tabs which are fantastic for root feeders, tetra plantimin which was ok & a greenline fert bag which again was ok.

One thing you want to keep an eye on is your shrimp, most ferts contain copper which shrimp are intolerable to but some ferts seem to have a higher copper content then others. For instance when I added interpet flora boost to my tank my shrimp went mad cleaning themselves so I moved them to another tank that I hadn't yet added the fert to and they were fine. I added tropica a few days ago and they were fine with it.
