I just got a batch of cherry reds the other day and just noticed one of them has this line across it's back.

Any idea to what it is? The rest of the cherries are just completely red.

Its normal, some of mine are like that.Dont quote me on this but I think the ones with the line are defo female.

Yeah, I've been browsing some cherry red pics and it seems normal, though mine seems to be a lot less "faded" than the pics I've seen.

I doubt males ever get red enough to see the line even if it's there so you might have spotted a good way of confirming that a young or washed-out shrimp is female. I'll have to check that out. I can't remember ever seeing a line on the more colourful males.

The wild shrimp that RCS are bred from always have a distinct line (but no red colour, more a muddy brown). I'm not sure if it can be bred out or will always appear on some shrimp. Personally I like it and would love to see a bright red RCS with a distinct white stripe.

Sometimes in a big batch of RCS, you will see a couple of light-brown ones with those lines (which I presume is a wild colouring from what fatboy said), if you look around on ebay and snail shop, some of the shrimp in the pictures have those lines.
Gorgeous looking shrimp btw.
