Limewire

I do. I like it, it's better than iTunes for putting music on your iPod, because it's free.

Yes, but I find it cumbersome and sometimes slow. It is powerful though, much akin to the old Napster.
@n3ont3tra: it may be 'free', but it ain't really.... if you know what I mean.

I BitTorrent (but don't tell anyone).

get pro you can download it from limewire its self or get it from there website, to get it from the website you have 2 options,
a) pay for it
b)play on limewires lack of protection ;)

Step 1. Go to www.google.com
Step 2. Enter this in the seachbar (without the quotes):
"sales.limewire site:limewire.com -expire -expired -cancelled -support"
Step 3. Click on the button next to Search button, which says: "I'm feeling lucky"
Step 4. Google has hacked the LimeWire download page. Thank you Google!
(mods: if you want to remove that i understand :good: )

Does anyone here use it?

I'd watch out - Limewire for PC's is not a good idea - soon the police will be prosecuting in this country as they are in the US using computers able to track the limewire servers and who is using them and downloading illegal files. Why do you think itunes music stores has suddenly boomed in the U.S after the new legislation was introduced!

IF you are using a Macintosh computer fear not as with most things macintosh's are way cooler and can go 8undecteted as with Virus' that attack PC's mac's are immune to these and the police intercepting limewire's server information.

I use itunes for my music despite owning an imac as it's only 79p per song you get artwork and the quality is better :)

actually so long as you dont leave the music in your shared folder the police will leave you alone, there after the people that are actually sharing the music,

Limewire gives you the option *cough* persuades you *cough* to share your music when installing - the majority of people evidently do or limewire could not exist - and in the U.S it is now illegal to download it and the different as it stands with the UK is that they are prepared to enforce it - soon to spread over to our English legal system soon though.

Seriously stick with itunes music store - it will have full length movies at near dvd quality soon to be High Definition already has Music video's and albums often come with extra tracks, digital booklets and a video by the artist giving an insight into it's production such as the album Back to Basics by Christina Aguilera sold cheaper on itunes than in-store prices :)

I'm not fussed about the price for music downloads, I'm perfectly willing to pay that. What I hate is DRM. As soon as there is a music download site that I can download DRM-free mp3's of popular artists for less than £1 per track, then I will start buying downloads. As it is, I use limewire to try a few songs from an artist before buying a CD and ripping it. Unfortunately nowadays alot of CD's come with some kind of DRM or similar protection on them. I refuse to buy those ones at all.

It doesn't 'force' you to share your music at all, a few clicks and you can change your sharing folders. It's not difficult at all.
It's not seriously illegal to download limewire in the U.S. is it? . Limewire has other uses than spreading viruses and illegal downloads, perfectly legal ones  . I guess i could do without it though, I'll miss it. You wouldn't happen to know if its going to be illegal to use limewire here, and when they are going to start prosecuting for illegal downloads in the UK? -_-

I use I tunes too, my friends have limewire, O well when one of them get caught they will wish they just payed the 75p.

It will be soon, it's a matter of when not if and i think the main issue the police are having is that most people either use limewire to distribute music and even full length movies such as Casino Royale downloaded 100, 000 times in the first weekend and there's a lot of people who use limewire so that's a lot of people to prosecute all at once.

They're probably gathering evidence against people as we speak.

and how is this so?... I don't see any reason as to why a mac should be able to go under-detected and a pc can't.

i use bittorrent or emule, but if i like the album i go buy it. same with software, if i use it a lot i go pay for it. always seemed a bit odd to go on about sharing, when you consider how much info, people like microsoft, itunes and norton steal off you, during the course of your browsing. Norton even hide info from xp itself!!

i use limewire an i think its brilliant to get music!!!!!!! whatever u want
