Hi, just wondering what your thoughts were on a Lima Shovelnose going in a 180gal with an Electric Blue Jack Dempsey, and a Gold Saum (False Green Terror)? I have read that they are shy fish and don't want to put one in if it is going to be bullied.

imo, I would lose the cichlids and go with a group of limas! :p They should be fine with the EBJD, as I've heard that they aren't too bad, plus stay smaller than the GT. I'm not sure about them both together, but provided enough cover and the large tank area should prove fine with them together. It's worth a shot.

Lots of plants would be a good idea for the Lima's. It not only gives them hiding spots if any aggression should ever occur, but they are also ambush predators so it is more natural for them to stay in some cover. As long as its actually a Gold Saum and not a true GT you should be fine with aggression levels provided you have the space and cover needed.
