I have a small standard light bulb unit in the top of my hexagon tank rather than a tube strip light, is this ok firstly? and secondly it does light the tank up well but the back is so dim I can hardly see the stingray filter on the wall, I want crystal water and to see everything in it......

any tips??

Try a "daylight" energy saving lamp.... will look "whiter" and save a few bob in lekky bills !
