hello once again everyone. hopefully this will be my last post on this topic, lol. i have a 30 gallon tank, and am unsure what light to buy. they are both the same brand "odyssea" one is a 30 inch light with 65 watts (giving me 2.4 watts per gallon) and the other is a 24 inch light with 130 watts (giving me about 4.8 watts per gallon) the price of the two is pretty much the same, so that does not matter in my decision making. my intentions are to have a fully planted tank so would the 65 watt light be enough, or should i opt for the 130 watt light? if anyone could respond within several hours i would greatly appreciate it as i need to let the guy know if i want it or not.

thanks in advance everyone.

4.8 watts per gallon is a LOT of light and you will have issues with algae even with stringent CO2 and fertiliser dosing. Out of the two options I would go with the 2.4wpg option. You will be able to grow a nice planted tank with that especially if you use CO2 and add fertilisers. there is a pinned topic at the start of this section about the E.I. you might want to read this as well as the pinned article about CO2.

I'll second Angry Platy. Suggest you go for 2W/gal choose suitable plants for this amount of light and enjoy the aquascaping.
