Hi

I'm about to buy a fairly cheap tank, which has no light in the hood.
I'm fairly good at DIY so this shouldn't phase me but simply how should I go about building a light for it??

Details, 5 Gallon, small! Flimsy plastic lid etc

Any help greatly appreciated

Dan

Probably you best bet is to design a new lightweight wooden hood which can have a lift up section connected by a piano hinge (for feeding). For the inside you can buy reflectors. Take a look at my walkthrough for installing a new tube in my juwel rekord 70 and see if you can adapt it in some way.

I'd lean towards LEDs. Go to your local electronics shop and pick up the components then solder it together. Add a switch and find a adaquate housing (or make one) and you'll be set.
