I know the T number with a light is the size of the bulb... but other than that is there any difference?

I have a ballast an electrician friend gave me, and he told me to use T5's. I have a bunch of T8's laying aroung... can I interchange them? Or is there a reason why he said the T5's?

I think you will find that you can use most bulbs as long as you change the end caps but i could be wrong not much help really

T8 are a larger in size to T5, therefore you can use T5's in a T8 ballast by adding reducing rings. I dont think it's possible the other way round.
