ok im planning my new tank either 56G or 46G, anyways i found this bulb its 400W High Pressure Sodium Bulb 50k! think this would be to much i think i would need a fan on that or somthing. what do you think?

the bulb can be found on homedepot.com serch '327576'

Make sure if you go for this that you have a UV filter, it will harm your fishes, corals etc if not. Also 50k..I think it might be to much. We usually use 10k to 20k. Sounds a bit strong though, but I really dont know.

Not sure on this, i'm sure some one knows alot more though :)

I read this and decided not to answer it initially as i knownothing about sodium lighting (its not something that is used in the UK that much).

50K sounds like its the wrong spectrum to me. Halides go up as far as 20K and even then this blue light is not really suited when compared to the 10k bulbs or even lower.
6.5K is natural sunlight and thisis obviously what corals are designed ot make most use of. 50K is way off the mark IMO. However, as i know little about these lights i dont feel qualified to say that they are suitable or not.
