Is there any way to get enough lighting for my 29 gal using only one bulb. I have just a single bulb flourscent hood. Do I need to get two bulbs or can I just get one bulb with enough power for plants to live. I know the 2 watt thing but is there any other way?

I've got tubelights in most of my rooms, so that seems to supplement the light needs... Not sure if you want to do that, thogh.

What are tube lights and what about VHO flourescent light bulbs will those work for standard hoods?

Would this bulb work it has high K? It has like 20000 K?

20,000K refers to the spectrum of the light, not the intensity. Lamps like that are not really suitable for plants, too little of their light output falls within the range of frequencies absorbed by Chlorophyll. You'd be better off with a 5,500K - 6,500K lamp.

A really deep tank may benefit from high temperature lamps because the blue end of the spectrum is not as readily absorbed by water. Otherwise, those kind of lamps are best suited to marine reef tanks.

A also believe the starter unit you have would not work. Check the capacity of your starter.
