Hi there
Have just been browsing and found this site i to at the moment am having problems with my lighting have gone through two arcadia dual in the last 3 years the starter motor went on both just returned from holiday to no lights working. I have quite a large tank (60gall) and went looking at the shop on Wed for alternative lighting and the guy in the shop recommended the aquaray duo. so I would be intrested to know if you have any experience or know of any one who has them.

I think that SJ2K has gotten that confused with the interpet power compacts, as Triplus are interpet, and they don't do linear T5s. :D

Back on topic, I have the 39watt dual Hagen unit, and they are excellent. Mine isn't at use at the moment as I upgraded to a luminaire. They are much better value than the Arcadia units. Once thing I will say though is don't use the supplied tube clips, they wont last 5 minutes as they are plastic and turn brittle very quickly. Better to buy some nice metal tube clips like the Arcadia ones.

For tubes I would recommend either 2 Osram T5HO 865s, or 1 865 and a Sylvania Grolux. Or if you want to spend a bit more then the philips colour 96 (965) tubes are supposed to have very good colour rendition. All of these tubes are good for plant growth.

PS. Marlene the guy in the shop would reccomend an Aquaray duo, as they are fiercely expensive at the moment. They have also only been out for about a few weeks, so the only person I know of so far who has tested these on a freshwater setup is George Forman.
