i never knew there would be so much about lighting in an aquarium.

i have a 46g with 30 watts of lighting.
im looking for a cheap but good way to add light.

at home depot i saw a double flourescent light for 27$, it holds 2 36in. which would be 60 more watts. its T12 size bulbs.

would this be good for the tank? i would probably replace the bulbs with some good ones around 10,000k, that sound good?

so if i did do that, i would have 1 strip light of 30 watts, and anotehr strip of 60watts, which is almost 2 watts per gallon. how does that sound for a planted tank?

It is a lot better then what you have got now! You don't need 10,000K unless you particulaly want it, 5,500K - 6,500K is a more natural colour.
