I just upgraded the lighting in my fluval hood. The the lighting was fitted into the hood with the blast built in to a moulded part.

I cut away the moulded part with a dremal and smoothed the edges.

I made a mounting plate out of 4mm plastic, which I made a week ago. Mounted the the reflector, tube and tied down the cables.

Then a bolted the whole plate to the hood.

It wasn't as quick as it sounds, the whole process took a good few hours. But I think it worked out OK.

Very cleanly done. Good job!

Could you do us a favor and give us some specs on the lights you installed? Size, wattage, make, etc.

TIA,
Eric

Sorry, I forgot the specs.

Yes, the new lighting is the Interpet T5 compact, two 36 watt tubes run from a double control unit. The reflectors are only Arcadia ones. The old lighting was two 20 watt tubes, giving 1.2 WPG, now with the new tubes it's up to 2.2 WPG.

Thanks for your compliments. :D

PS: I think the lenght of the tube is 16".

Sorry, I can't remember exactly. I think the unit cost about £28'ish, the unit, two tubes, reflectors and P&P came to £55. I've just looked at the site a brought it from and they don't have the Interpet T5 lighting anymore.
