Hi,

I still have the 2x 42" lights that came with my Duo Deep tank. I believe that there is 1x Aqua Glo and 1x Sun Glo. I've always had mixed results with plants and would like to upgrade these lights if there is something better out there. No drilling or modding of the hood though, I just want to replace the tubes for something better. Can anyone recommend a good mix for me?

Many thanks,

TT.

I'm assuming you're using T8 fluorescent and don't want to switch??? Keep the Aqua-Glow and go with a Power-Glo instead of that Sun-glo - gives the plants a little more kick. Other tubes I've found good are Coralife's Nutrigrow (not sure where it came from, but it's over one of the tanks and doing a good job), Lightening Rod (a T6 tube that works in a T8 holder for the most part - lovely colours if you get the Colour Intensifier, and there's a flora light too).

Thanks for the advice. I went out and got a PowerGlo tube yesterday. Nice and bright.

Thanks again.

TT.

I have a Duo Deep 800 which came with the SunGlo and AquaGlo. Those Hagen lamps are rank and I replaced them with Arcadia Freshwater and Arcadia Original Tropical, which were tons better, then I put in Interpet Daylight Plus and Interpet Triplus which again were better than the Arcadia. Then I modded and put Interpet PC Lights in.

Interpet have altered their T8 daylightplus to have a mirrored side and therefore are no longer any use for tanks like our where the light is angled outward from the central recess, where the ballast is, as the painted on reflector now reflects all the light out towards the glass.

Therefore I would suggest the Arcadias or give in and go PC.

My Duo Deep 800 is the tank in the avatar, although only the dawn / dusk lighting is on in the pic which is 1 x 18W Arcadia Freshwater (normally there would be a 55W Interpet Daylight plus power compact on as well giving a total of 73W)
