All i want to know is:
Is it ok to have the plastic clips that hold lights onto hoods resting on the bulb itself or will it melt the plastic? Do the plastic clips have to be resting on the plastic casings that attach to either side of the light?

The clips are designed to clip onto the tube, so as to hold it firmly. Even better are the stainless steel versions that are even more resilient to heat. As long as you mean for tubes, yes?

I clip them over the lights and never had any problems with them melting, been set up a month now on about 12/14 hrs per day depending on the light.

Using Arcadia, 38/40W.

Well thanks for the feedback. I guess im ready to fit this new light then. Adding this light will give my total light power a major boost, my plants are doing OK at the moment, should i still change to get the plants doing even better? I dont mind a bit of excess algae.
