just a quickie for you lads

i have a normal lighting system in the hood of my tank as i understand it you should not just turn the lights off and plunge the tank into darkness i have two tubes in the hood should i turn one off for a while before turning off the other and visa versa in the morning or am i being stupid

how do you do yours? :S :S

if you CAN turn them on one at a time, then go ahead and do things that way as its probably a little less stressful for the fish.

My large tank had staged lighting:

11am - Blue Actinic (72w T8) on
1pm - Marine White (72w T8) on
2pm - Metal Halide (400w 14,000k) on

8pm - Metal Halide (400w 14,000k) off
9pm - Marine White (72w T8) off
11pm - Blue Actinic (72w T8) off

Just means that no-ones shocked by a bright light suddenly turning on (I know I hate it in the morning)
