Lighting On 24/7 With Coral?

hi, i have a pico reef (2.5g) and i got a ricordea mushroom in it and some other photosynthetic corals, im new to the coral stuff so 1 question

do i have to keep the light on through the whole night or just half a day because i dont like having a sudden light at night.

no it will do more harm than good being lit 24/7. Most tank are lit between 8 and 12 hours.

Some people that have lights on at night are called moonlights and they're not a must have. But as for your main light, listen to Ben

If you lit a tank 24/7 I imagine you could end up with one serious algea problem.

Moonlight leds add a nice atmosphere to your tank as you get to see the corals 'bedding down' for the night, but you can have them on for an hour or so either side of your normal lighting pattern
