Lighting My New Tank.

Building a new hood for my 4ft tank and just wondered if anyone knows the size and wattage of lamp I should use.
I have bought a t5 kit from ebay which can control 2 tubes but unsure what length and wattage to get.
Tank is 4ft and approx 50 gal (UK).

Usually, ballasts can take only one or two specific laps, so see what yours say.

I would personally use 2 T5 laps which are the full length of the tank.

So get 48" Tubes ? or can I get 40" or there abouts ?

with 50 gals (UK) would you get 2 36w or there abouts, so total wattage is 72 ? or is that too much >?

I would have 2*48", but 42" or 36" should also be fine. You might want to decide based on which plants you want to keep.
