I know this isnt really a question for this section of the forum..but ihad a thread psoted in the garden section and no luck. Ive had good luck in this section so i thought id give it a try ( sorry if its a problem  )

Now...I have a Lid lighting system from a 10 gallon tank...I want to know if i can use this on my 65 gallon tank...I plan on adding java ferns in the next day or so, and read that they can survive in low light...The lid actually lights up the tank pretty good. The tank is 48x18x18. I know that i will have to buy some plant friendly lights. Will my Java ferns be ok in moderate light ( the Ifs wanted $90 for the proper 1 ). The tank has an all glass top.

Hope i can find better luck in here..... :D

If its a low light plant, then it should be ok. Make sure you check the watts on the light and let us know. Try providing your ferns about 10-12 hours of light per day.

The lamp is most likely 20W and this will give an extremely low level of light in the tank (.3 watts per gallon). However i think that java fern would grow in the dark so if any plant will grow it will be the java fern. Good Luck with it and let us know how you make out.
