I was just wondering if i could use a Lid lighting system from a 10 gallon tank on my 65gallon. I plan on planting at 5 java ferns in it in the next couple days. Now i have read that they do not need bright light to grow, and that they are hardy plants. I currently have it running on top right now with 2 standard 15watt bulbs. And it lights it up pretty well. I know that i will have to buy plant friendly ones. The dimensions are 48x18x18. Any help would be great...If i can get away using this lighting system it would be great ( proper one at Ifs is $90 )...But if i have to buy one i will....

Thanx ....

Cheeba!

If the only thing you want to grow is java ferns, that lighting should keep it alive at least.
are those the dimensions of your tank? you could get shop light strips from wal mart or something i think mine cost about $8 and put some full spectrum bulbs from home depot (I use philips "dalylight deluxe" and "natural sunshine") they cost about $5 each. i have 2 shop lights on my 75 gallon for a total of 4 bulbs.
