Hey eveyone,

I have another question and about the lighting. I am wanting to put live plants in and make a moss carpet etc in a few weeks and for this was going to upgrade the lighting. I was looking into getting the MR16 high power LED's which produce 320 lumens each plus the appropriate fittings to replace the current MR11's.

Looking into this further though the fitting isn't that good and when the lights are hanging on a hing lifter to get into the tank am worried that they are not going to be secure enough. Is it possible to fit the GU10 light with the correct fitting into the hood instead?

The bulb I found for this is 410 lumens each

Both the MR16 & GU10 are in cool white lighting rather than warm light as I preffer this although I was thinking about connection 1 warm white in the middle by some retro fit but only depending on how the cool white lighting looks.

Any input would be most appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Adam

I tried LEDs but they were not bright enough probably due to only using 1 strip about 15 leds.
This post shows it can be done with LED but i would imagine its a bit pricey.

Cheers for the input, I am not sure about these bulbs, I can also get some to run at 475 lumens each and the output for the bulbs say they are between 5000k-6500k. I don't know how this relates to the requirement for plants but if its not high enough for plants.

Kind Regards,

Adam
