Hi everyone

I either read or was told (memory like a sieve!!) that plecs don't recognise red light and therefore you can use red lighting on an evening when the plecs are active.

Is this true? And if so, what red lighting would you recommend? I've seen the Hydor ones but vaguely remember someone telling me they were a bit naff.

Thanks

Kathy

I heard that too so what I did to test it out was, get some red tissue paper and fold it over a couple of times and wrapped it on plastic and put in under the light. Yes it was a pretty dodgy way of making red light but it worked. The plecs became more active and it was great to watch.

I have recently fitted blue cold cathode lights as 'moon lighting' but it is still too bright and they don't get fooled. I belive you can buy red cold cathodes and you can turn them down by way of an adjustable voltage power pack (I have been told). Here is a link to the DIY cold cathode thread if you are interested.

Hope this helps

ps I got my cold cathodes of ebay from a computer store.

Thanks! I'll have a look at that thread, although looking at it now I'm wishing I had more technical know-how. Maybe Baz'll know what it's all about *lmao*. I'm such a stereotypical woman, such a failure to feminism. :look:
