Hi,
I have an all glass 29 gallon tank with 2 bolivian rams and 7 rummy nose tetras which i have set up as a planted tank. I want to add more lighting or increase the lighting so I wanted to know how I could? The hood that came with the tank has one bulb which i believe is 24 inches not sure might be thirty. Is there a replacement type of bulb I can use to get more light and help me plants out?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

If you're 29G is the same size (dimensions) as mine, you hava a single 24" fluoro that only puts out 20W. Unfortunately replacing the light bulb won't do much good/difference. I had decent results when I bought a double-light 24" fixture and used it in conjunction with my original single-light 24". This gave me 60W, or 2WPG. To do better than that, you either need to build your own canopy for spiral compact daylight fluorescents (screw into normal light socket) or purchase something along the lines of a power compact light fixture. I now have a 24" CoraLife Freshwater AquaLight with 2x65W power compact @ 6500K. The Freshwater model of the AquaLight is intended for use in a planted tank.
