Well, I've gotten to the point where I decided I MUST get another tube for my tank. The tank is a 4foot tank, hence the tubes I need are 42 inches. (I'm rambling, stop me wherever I go wrong). From what I have now, the starter is a 36/38W starter.

My question is, if I want to get to the magical 2WpG, I would need more than 36 extra watts for the tank... I have seen higher wattage tubes, but they are longer than 42 inches. I can only fit another tube as the way the lid is made, I can only fit 2 tubes.

Does anyone have a way out of this? Do higher output, but same size tubes exist? What about their starters?

Thanks,
Michele

4ft = 48" not 42"

All of these lighting fixtures are available in 48" length and are all higher than 36w.

I realise that 4ft is 8 inches, but as my tank is 4 ft, I cant fit a 48inch tube in it! I need some space at the sides for the caps, the cables and air-flow... hence, 42inch tubes...

That said, thanks for the link... apparently all I need to do is ditch the T8 tubes and go with 4 T5 tubes (well, 2 for the moment, combined with my existing T8). That should give me alot more light output...
