I've seen that many people have had issues with their light units the problem with mine[its ajewel 180] is i click the unit on with the inline switch the lights light then go out [the inline switch does crackle slightly]is this the switch?does the unit have a starter if so where's it located,or is this the same problem most seem to be having?
Ant advice would me most helpful:)

Lots of people have problems with Juwel lights, me included. Did you buy your tank new, and is it still under warranty? If it is, the dealer where you got it is the first port of call.

If it's too old for that, you can repair it, see the pinned topic at the top of this section

Juwel light bars are notorious for ballast failure. In your case it may be just the inline switch that is faulty as it crackles.

The inline switch is a sealed unit which cannot be dismantled without damage therefore I would suggest that you cut it off (making sure it's unpluged first!) and fix a plug directly to the wire. If this solves your problem then you should be able to obtain a replacement (water-proof) switch

I took the whole unit back to the shop where i bought the full setup the owner was really helpful and really couldn't do enough for me,he replaced the unit with another that was the latest edition all free of charge so i'm now well happy :good:

glad you got it sorted!!

tubes flickering is, often the basalt. tubes switching on then off is, often caused, by a faulty/old tube.

Maybe if you had said in the first place that the unit was recently purchased then the advice would have been take it back

Glad it was a good outcome for you :good:
