I've noticed that Dennerle special plant bulbs are 3000K. I thought the best for the plants was around 5000K to 6500K? Dennerle's web site has a picture of spectal curve for their special plant light. I can't read German, but from the picture, it looks like they are implying that the algae preferrs blue end of the spectrum, while the plants prefer the orange-yellow end of the spectrum. This implies that higher temperature (3500K+) is more useful to algae than plants. Any thoughts?

WE're doing well with these tubes. Loads better than others (hagen) that we have tried.

thats about the only input i can offer :D

Ditto. I have 3 in my Juwel Rio 125 (as well as a Hagen Life-Glo (6700K) and Arcadia Freshwater (7500K) to 'balance' the light), I swear by them.

Thanks for the input. Although we can't get them here in US, I may have to do some experiment.

just remember that normal 3000K light from the hardware store will not work, you'll need to get the 6500K ones..

on the Dennerle tubes they mixed the right amout of red and blue colors to create a special tube to promote plant growth..

yep - we have 2 of the Dennerle's and another to 'lift' the light.
