Hello

Can you use Halogen lamp's or Metal halide lamp's on a planted aquariam?

I am awear that you can get Metal halide lamp's in a varity of colour temperatures for 3,000K to 20,000K so this shoudnt cause a problem.

Has anyone got any personal experiance.

The resion im asking is because of the compact design of the lights and the high light output.

Yes you can use them. Just look on most online shops they sell them. ££££ though :(

Halogen tend not to be great due to the massive amount of heat they give out. I also dont know of any that would have the right spectrum of light necessary fro a planted tank.

Metal halides work very well, there are several plant specific bulbs as well, Arcadia and ADA from the top of my head.
