Hi there,

For those of us with inherrited lights with no markings on is it possible to give a best guess to a lights sutability for live plants by the tinge to its colour?

I have a flourescent light that has a slight purple/blue tinge to its light. I also have other lights that just seem more white really.

Now the first light is not a moonlight, I know this as I have one of those too :)

I suspect the one with the purple/blue tinge to its colour is the plant light yes?

if it has a noticeable blue color to it, it is probably a coralife bulb that is 50%10,000k and 50% blue atinic I have one on my 10 gallon, the plants seem to grow, and the platys are very flourescent orange looking from the blue tint

ahha! thanks for the info.

Yes it seems thats what I have. Nice observation with the platys they do look very vibrant when I have that light on.
