Hello there!
So to begin with I have a Juwel Rio 125, currently I am happy with it but the output from the lights. I initially changed from the standard 2 x 18w T8 Rio lights to 2 x Arcadia Original 18w T8 lights, I was initially pleased however after changing my substrate from light sand to dark I do realise how under lit this tank is in my eyes. I'm looking to really boost the growth in my tank as I am using CO2, which does seem to have boosted grow but I'm still not happy.
So my aim... I want to boost the potential input of light in my tank, with a few restrictions... Price I really really want to keep it under £150. However I would prefer to be able to do it by keeping the original lid in place, i.e no over head lights unless that turns out to be my only way.
The reason I don't want an Over head light is because 1, the wooden trim looks stupid without a lid. 2, It has a silly plastic "support" bar which actually just looks to be in place to prevent the lighting ballast from falling into the tank.
The options I have looked at are the Arcadia Overhead lights, Arcadia I bars (AI225) which frustrates me that I can't find one as they just sound like the perfect option only sizes above and below can be found although the arcadia book gives me a code. I've also looked at the ultra seal lights, however due to the natural of the "Support" bar another tube appears to be almost impossible to fit along side the current ballast.
I would like to be able to "upgrade" to T5 tubes from my T8s, however I'm having a seriously hard time trying to find anywhere that has a complete replacement kit or something relatively close to that.
Any help please?
Edit: with further research I did manage to find this http/www.rocketrading.co.uk/product.php?productid=1848&cat=67&page=2 however I believe it is only the Reckford 96 model. It claims its suitable for my tank but the catalogue doesn't really describe it so well.
I'm probably flogging a dead horse here as they look like they're very old stock but it's the best I can find at the moment for what I want.
However according to this http/www.fastlight.co.uk/acatalog/IbarUsageChart.pdf it shows that on the "extendable" the reckford 96/rio 125 are compatible.
