I have a 29 gallon aquarium. There is a link to a picture of it below. I want to know if this tank would be okay for mollies. It is light brackish water and my mom wants an active tank for in the living room. Mollies were the only active fish I could think of that were brackish. I wanted puffers but I could only have like 3 figure eights in a 29 gallon...not too active. There is one common pleco in there right now. I'm giving him to the lfs when he gets too big. right now he is a little more than three inches. So, if I need to remove some of the rock structures or add more plants I will. What do you guys think?

Link to pictures of the tank!

Don't put mollies into "salt" water, if they don't need it. However mollies can sometimes survive there and sometimes they need salt addition - because they can live in brackish water too in natur and some mollies are raised in brackish water (not all however)...

When keeping mollies, keep them 1 male + 2-3 females. Don't overstock! Mollies, especially females are quite large when adult. (pH 7-8,5, hard water, temp. 25-28 C)

What?

You don't want to keep your pleco in salted water.

Mollies natural occur in slightly brackish conditions, but will live in freshwater - and I've seen them in marine tanks - they are very tough customers.

My pleco has been living in light brackish for about a month now and he is doing SO GOOD. When he was with the cichlids he never came out and wasn't active. Now he eats 5!!!! agae disks a day and is all over the tank. I am adding about a gallon of fresh water a day so the tank should be back to fresh water soon. I'm not getting my mollies soon. I went to petco today and every mollie was dead or dying!

i don't know how mollies are with puffers, but i reckon your tank would be fine for some mollies
