Having talked about some cory's lately ive decided to share a success story of mine, whether you choose to read it or not is up to you.
A month ago i went to a friends house and looked at his breeder tank, where i saw no fish, only a small lonely cory. I asked him, he said he kept some fish in there added a cory to clean up after, the tank was never lighted, mostly in the dark, with minimal light that comes from the rooms lights themselves, which is i guess common for a breeding tank you use to feed your other main fish. I asked him how long have you had the little guy? He responds about 2-3 weeks.
I thought back to my corys who i had for about the same time in my other tank, how much bigger they were, about twice the size. This guy was looking abit tired, lazy, and small, so i said, you got anything against me taking him? My friend responds, sure no problem i bought him without knowing really what kind of fish he was (mislead by the LFS) and i was looking for a better home.
So i take him, he seems abit shy at first and definatley different compared to my other corys. A week goes by and by golly hes grown! Still not the same size but definatley grown, when BAM it hit me in the face...Cotton mouth......and all 3 of the corys had it, my other 3 (different types) had not.
I thought darn, started to add the meds, did water changes accordingly and boom no results. I gave up, did all i could, went through 20$ work of meds and nothing. A week after nothing, the cotton mouth seems to be dissapearing... what i think? Another week goes by and its gone, im really happy now as you might expect, and not only that i cant spot the lonely troubled cory i "rescued", they are all playing, sleeping, having fun, and all look the same size.
Thats my success story, i can only identify him when i look really closely, but hes grown to really the same length as the other corys, and that one lonley fish that was shy and small, is no more.
